Records, 1902-1932.

The minute books of the Harwood Coal Co. document stockholders' and directors' meetings. Annual reports describe company operations: maintenance, repairs, accidents, labor relations and strikes. Special payrolls record the wages of foremen and inspectors, while private payrolls record wages of engineering and office staff. The retroactive payroll documents back wages that were due to employees as a result of the award of the Anthracite Coal Strike Commission (1902). The Workmen's compensation insurance voucher report records payments to the doctors and the hospitals that provided miners with medical care, while the compensation payrolls document pensions that were paid to miners' widows and orphaned children. There are also records of the subsidiary Harwood Store Co. (1907-1936).
